Scottsmoore Landing Boat Ramp Fishmap
Generally Speaking, the better fishing in this area
will be along the eastern shoreline of the Indian
River Lagoon. Due to the lack of development
pressure brought on by protection as a Wildlife
Refuge, the seagrass beds in this area are among the
healthiest in the lagoon . You will not find any
spoil islands in the area because the Intracoastal
Waterway turns to the east through Haulover Canal,
located south of here before continuing on its
northward journey.
Don't rule out the western shoreline either here.
While the flats may not be as expansive the
seagrasses are here, due to the protection from
shoreline development brought on by the existence of
the Florida East Coast Railroad. This has resulted
in the protection of this portion of the lagoon from
stormwater runoff that is prevelant in other areas,
making this a good launch site for kayak fishers
that may not want to paddle across the lagoon to the
eastern shoreline.
